New distribution center for Danone at Laarakker Business Park
Friday November 06, 2020
Alderman Maarten Jilisen and the Laarakker Regional Business Park management are very happy with Danone's new developments. The new distribution center will be located next to the brand new factory in Haps. Danone's ambition fits perfectly with the Business Park, both are fully committed to sustainability and employment for the region. Danone has thus become an even more important party for the Land van Cuijk in the long term. This month Danone is taking the first steps towards a new worldwide distribution center in the Netherlands. The distribution center will play an important role in improving and accelerating the European distribution of the Danone portfolio. The ambition is to have the new distribution center operational by Q4 2021.
The distribution center will be next to the brand new factory in Haps that Danone opened last year, to replace the old Nutricia factory in Cuijk. This confirms Danone's commitment to further invest in the Netherlands. The distribution center is expected to create employment for approximately 100 employees in the Haps region. Pharmacies, hospitals and retailers are directly served from the new distribution center and products are exported to more than 80 countries.
As part of its policy, Danone will continue to focus on ways to contribute to the environment in the coming years. The new distribution center fits within that ambition. Danone wants to build a distribution center with a 'very good' BREEAM sustainability rating, with the ambition to realize a CO2-neutral operation in the coming years.
The construction and operation of this center is a development of VolkerWessels Logistics Development.
